Philippine Regions: Ilocos Region or Region I
Region I is also known as the Ilocos region and is located in the northwest of Luzon. It is composed of four main provinces – Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan.

This region in the Philippines is composed of mountain and plains and is rich in natural resources. Most livelihood come from agriculture, livestock and agro-industrial businesses.
A place for eco-tourism, it is where you can find the renowned Hundred Islands National Park (Pangasinan), where you can see about more than 120 islands and islets scattered along the Lingayen Gulf. Another very popular tourist attraction is the City of Vigan – a World Heritage Site as it is one of the very few Hispanic (Spanish) towns left in the Philippines. Walking the streets of Vigan is like travelling time with its cobblestone streets and majestic foreign structures.
The Ilocos region is also the origin of former Presidents Ferdinand Marcos and Fidel Ramos.
