1. This may not be new to you anymore, but when you are in a call center, you are expected to work at night. That is because of time zone differences. It is daytime in the other parts of the world especially in US when it is night time here. So, get ready with your coffee and get used to getting good sleep during the day. Find a cool place where you can be far away from noise and disturbance.

2. Because you work at night, you are eligible for greater incentives and that includes night differential. That is an additional 15%-35% of your supposed daily pay. Terms depend on the company, of course.

3. You would not be enjoying the holidays when you are working in a BPO. That’s for the same reason as the first item. Good thing is, you work for a premium.

4. Prepare to be scolded over the phone for something not always your fault. But don’t take it personally. Positive thinking and the ability to move forward after every call is key to surviving the contact center industry. That’s another good thing about this job, you don’t have to carry it with you all the time.

5. Get ready with the temptation of spending. Call center agents have this tendency of thinking they can be immune to “broke-ness” because they are usually paid higher than regular daytime employees. Then again, it’s mind over matter. Guard your pay with a savings account because really, BPOs are not permanent. The next thing you know, all your hard-earned pay may go down the drain.
